The US Department of Justice approved the merger of Warner Bros. and Paramount

The US Department of Justice approved the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Paramount. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on June 13.

The Ministry's Antimonopoly Department has approved Paramount Skydance's bid to acquire Warner Bros. The deal amounted to $111 billion. It is noted that employees of the US Department of Justice have determined that the merger does not pose a threat to competition.

According to the newspaper's sources, the agency approved the deal without requiring the sale of assets and concessions, as well as without setting regulatory requirements. The decision is expected to be announced soon.

On February 26, the streaming company Netflix officially refused to purchase the studio WBD. The WBD Board of Directors recognized Paramount's offer as more profitable. Netflix has indicated that it is not ready to increase the amount of the offer above $83 million.

The New York Times reported on February 15 that the WBD board of directors is considering resuming negotiations with Paramount on February 15, after the latter submitted an updated purchase offer. WBD management is discussing whether Paramount's initiative could lead to a better deal compared to the previously agreed terms with Netflix.
