- The DPRK Foreign Ministry condemned the supply of weapons to South Korea from the United States
The DPRK has condemned the US agreement to sell a batch of the latest air–to-air missiles and related military equipment to the Republic of Korea (ROK). This was reported on June 13 by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), citing a statement by the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the DPRK Foreign Ministry.
"Despite the legitimate concern of the international community, the US and ROK military collusion is systematically intensifying, trying to bring tensions on the Korean peninsula and in the region around it to the limit. A typical example is that the US State Department, as part of the "regime for the sale of military equipment abroad," approved the supply of the latest air–to—air missiles and related equipment to the Republic of Kazakhstan in the amount of $ 300 million," the publication says.
It is noted that earlier, in less than a month, the US administration approved the supply of weapons to Kazakhstan "worth billions of dollars," including a new helicopter for naval operations, an offensive helicopter and adjustable bombs. It is reported that the United States does not hide its intentions regarding the military buildup of South Korea.
"The DPRK Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the alarming intrigues of the United States and South Korea to build up armed forces that violate military parity on the Korean peninsula and threaten the security situation in the region, and warns of their serious consequences," the article says.
Kim Yo Jong, Deputy director of the Department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK Central Committee) and the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, announced on June 7 that the DPRK does not intend to make any concessions on nuclear disarmament and will stick to the course of strengthening its nuclear forces, despite US statements about the need for denuclearization. She noted that the statements about "denuclearization" are "a complete lie and an absurd fake," and stressed that the country would not discuss sovereignty and its security with anyone.
