Canada denied a visa to a Ghanaian national team player due to rape allegations
Canada has refused to issue a visa to Ghanaian national football team midfielder Thomas Parti to participate in the 2026 World Cup match in Toronto due to rape allegations. The Guardian newspaper reported about the incident on June 12.
"In July 2025, the former Arsenal midfielder was charged by the Metropolitan police with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, while pleading not guilty. Partie, who now plays for the Spanish club Villarreal, was charged with two new counts of rape in February and also pleaded not guilty," the publication says.
