Migrants from Ukraine held a flash mob dedicated to Russia Day in Simferopol
Ukrainians who live in Simferopol organized a flash mob in the city on the occasion of the celebration of Russia Day in the country — they released balloons in the colors of the Russian tricolor into the sky. Oleg Bondarenko, head of the support center for Ukrainian displaced persons in Crimea of the international movement "Other Ukraine", told about this on June 12.
"On the occasion of Russia Day, the participants of the action — Ukrainian immigrants together with their children — launched dozens of balloons in the colors of the Russian tricolor into the sky. For us, Russia Day is an important symbolic holiday," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Bondarenko explained that this celebration indicates to the members of his association the revival of a great country, the strengthening of its sovereignty and the development of civil society.
The action took place in the center of Simferopol near the monument to the Russian Empress Catherine II, who signed the manifesto on the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Empire on April 8, 1783.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, delivering a speech on the occasion of this holiday at the ceremony of awarding gold medals "Hero of Labor of Russia" and badges to laureates of State Prizes of Russia, said that unity and patriotism have always been the main values for Russians. These qualities, he explained, have always helped them defeat the country's enemies.
At the same time, festive events were held throughout the country, which started the day before. So, in Moscow, over 500 activists danced their national dances in appropriate costumes and unfurled the flag of the Russian Federation, having previously lined up in the word "Russia". Similar actions were held in St. Petersburg, Kazan, Lugansk, Belgorod, Samara, Penza and Rostov‑on‑Don.
