The court arrested the bus driver after an accident with four dead in Yekaterinburg

The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the bus driver accused in the case of an accident near the Bolshoy Zlatoust temple, which killed four people. This was announced by the court's press service on June 12.

"The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has chosen a measure of restraint for Ikromjon Khamraev, a citizen of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, accused by the preliminary investigation authorities under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two or more persons," the press service said.

The court decided to detain Khamrayev until August 10, 2026. The decision has not yet entered into force and can be appealed within three days. Alexey Yarkov, director of the carrier company, was also taken into custody.

Insurance companies will be required to file lawsuits against violators in cases of accidents with aggravating circumstances.

The accident occurred on the evening of June 10 in the Leninsky district of Yekaterinburg. As a result of the incident, four people died on the spot, including a 9-year-old child. Several other people suffered injuries of varying severity. The identity of the deceased boy has not yet been established. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said on June 11 that the tragedy was provoked by a bus running a red light, and two criminal cases were also opened.

The 49-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle and the 43-year-old director of the company that owned the car were detained. A spontaneous memorial was later formed at the site of the tragedy, where residents of the city carry flowers, candles and soft toys.
