Putin noted the military exploits of the ancestors and their dedication for the glory of the Motherland

The military exploits of our ancestors, their steadfastness and selfless service to the Fatherland are an inspiring example for future generations. This was announced on June 12 by Russian President Vladimir Putin in a congratulatory message to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on Russia Day.

"Your Holiness! I congratulate you on Russia Day. Love for our native country, pride in its history and great culture, and loyalty to patriotic duty unite our multinational people," the publication says on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).

The Russian leader wished Patriarch Kirill good health and all the best.

Russia Day is a public holiday and a day off for the whole country. Until 2002, it was called the Day of the Adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the RSFSR, which was signed in 1990. Since 1992, the holiday has been celebrated on June 12.

As part of the celebration of Russia Day, residents of different cities organized festive events and participated in them. The festive events started on June 11. More than 500 activists took part in a festive performance in Moscow.: They performed folk dances in national costumes, then lined up in the word "Russia" and solemnly unfurled the national flag of the Russian Federation.
