You should not try to replay phone scammers, because voice recording can be used later to confirm banking transactions or to deceive loved ones. This was announced on June 12 by the head of the city's online project "Call me back" of the Moscow Department of Information Technology, Valentina Shilina.

"Trying to outplay a scammer is a dangerous game in which the outcome is almost always prejudged against you. The main mistake here is to overestimate your strength. If it seems that replaying a criminal on the phone is an easy task, this is a misconception," Shilina explained to RIA Novosti.

The expert noted that attempts to ridicule, deceive or expose a fraudster can lead to serious consequences.

She named three main reasons why this should not be done: scammers act according to well-established psychological schemes and are in more favorable conditions, are able to upset a person and use the emotional state for their own purposes, and also pose a risk of data leakage, since the voice can be recorded and used to deceive or confirm transactions on behalf of the victim..

According to her, the main way to protect yourself is to stop a suspicious conversation.

On June 10, Shilina warned that in conversations with scammers, you should not say the words "yes", "I confirm" and "I agree". She noted that attackers can record such phrases and cut them out of context for use in voice confirmation of operations.
