Bajrakitiyabha (also known as Princess Pa or Patti) is a princess of Thailand, the eldest granddaughter of King Rama IX and the only child of the reigning King Rama X from his marriage to Soamsawali Kitiyakara. Childhood and education

Princess Bajrakitiyabha was born on December 7, 1978 in Bangkok, in the Amphorn Satanh Hall of Dusit Palace. She received her primary and secondary education in her homeland — at the Rajini Girls' School and at the Chitralada Royal Residence School, and also studied for some time at the Heathfield English School in Ascot.

The princess connected her life with law and international relations. In 2000, she graduated from Thammasat University with a Bachelor's degree in Law, as well as Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, where she studied international relations. To continue her studies, Bajrakitiyabha went to the United States, to Cornell University. There, in 2002, she received a master's degree, and in 2005 she defended her dissertation, becoming a Doctor of law. In addition, in 2012, she was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Law from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Career and social activities

After completing her education, the Princess worked for a while in New York as Thailand's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), taking part in the work of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. In the fall of 2006, she joined the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand, where she eventually became an employee of the Prosecutor's Office of Udon Thani Province. From 2012 to 2014, Bajrakitiyabha also represented her country in the international arena, serving as Thailand's ambassador to Austria, after which she returned to the prosecutor's office.

An important part of her biography is her charitable and human rights work. The Princess initiated the Kamlangjai (Inspiration) project, aimed at protecting the rights of imprisoned women, including pregnant and young mothers with children, as well as their subsequent reintegration into society. Within the framework of the ELFI project, she advocated for the reform of Thai legislation in the field of treatment of women offenders in accordance with international UN standards. In addition, she worked on the organization of the charity foundation "Friend in need of PA" founded by her mother, which provides assistance to residents of rural areas affected by natural disasters.

Illness and death

In December 2022, the Bureau of the Royal Court of Thailand reported that Princess Bajrakitiyabha lost consciousness while walking with her dogs and was urgently hospitalized. The cause of the incident was a severe heart attack. The patient was transferred to the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok.

The princess passed away on June 11, 2026 at the age of 47. Since May 21, her condition has worsened due to an infection in her abdominal cavity. Bajrakitiyabha suffered from low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat and abnormal blood clotting.
