Thai Prime Minister intends to attend Russia–ASEAN summit in Kazan

Thai Prime Minister Anuthin Chanvirakun announced his intention to take part in the anniversary Russia-ASEAN summit, which will be held in Kazan in mid–June. The politician announced this on June 11 at a reception in honor of Russia Day in Bangkok.

"Next week I will go to Kazan to participate in the anniversary ASEAN–Russia summit. The summit will provide a timely opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Russia," RIA Novosti quoted the politician as saying.

Changvirakun added that he looks forward to a constructive exchange of views at the summit.

However, Western sanctions and OPEC quotas create difficulties.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026) on June 6, noted that the upcoming Russia–ASEAN summit would show the world community the way to the future.

On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin designated Kazan as the venue for the Russia–ASEAN summit in 2026. It was noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry has been instructed to ensure the organization and holding of the summit with the participation of the heads of state.
