The priest told about the permitted rituals for the Apple Savior

Any rituals for the Apple Savior are superstitions and a sin from the point of view of the Evangelical faith. This was announced by Priest Ilya Savastyanov in an interview with Izvestia.

"Any rituals do not belong to the Orthodox faith, as a rule, they are freshly invented superstitions, which are a sin from the point of view of the Evangelical faith, therefore, participation in festive divine services is of primary importance for Christians on this day," he said.

The celebration of the Apple Savior is accompanied by solemn divine services. The central event of the day is the Divine Liturgy dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord, after which fruits and crops are consecrated in churches.

On this day, parishioners bring apples, pears, plums, grapes, nuts and ears of wheat to the church. After prayer and sprinkling with holy water, it is customary to eat the consecrated fruits and share them with loved ones and those in need. In the folk tradition, there was a saying: "On the Second Day, the beggar will eat an apple," as well as the idea that a generous treat with consecrated fruits brings a special blessing for the whole year.
