There have been 373 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 373 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 28 people were killed and 444 injured. 20 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on June 11 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 76 accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed, and 79 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 22 child pedestrians, 13 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 28 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 48 outside their area of operation.

12 bus accidents were recorded, in which four people were killed, and another 20 road users, including one child, needed medical attention. Five bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. 78 accidents involving minors were registered, 85 young road users were injured, including 26 passengers, 12 motor transport drivers, and one cyclist. Two child pedestrians were killed.

So, in Yekaterinburg in the evening, a 49-year-old driver of a city shuttle bus with 12 passengers in the cabin, while passing a controlled intersection, collided with a crossover moving in the opposite direction and turning left, driven by a 25-year-old motorist. After the collision, the bus left the roadway and ran into a group of pedestrians on the sidewalk. Four pedestrians were killed in the accident, including a nine-year-old boy. One bus passenger and four other pedestrians were hospitalized with injuries.

During the day in Moscow, in one of the courtyards, a 67-year-old car driver ran over a five-year-old boy who had been playing on the playground at home accompanied by his mother, but suddenly left her and ran into the roadway. The elderly motorist did not have time to react to his sudden appearance in front of him, the child died.

On the eve of a long holiday weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds parents that the lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users.

The ministry called for strict monitoring and suppression of attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting driving without rights and skills. Administrative responsibility is provided for the provision of the possibility of driving motor vehicles for children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also recommended that motorists be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the summer, when school-age children spend a lot of time outdoors. Special care should be taken when driving through courtyards, crossing intersections, and approaching pedestrian crossings. Compliance with driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the cabin of your car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements, the State Traffic Inspectorate emphasized.

"During trips of any length with young passengers, avoid risky driving, dangerous maneuvers, and choose a reasonable speed limit depending on the time of day, the condition of the roadway, and weather conditions. Always remember that the preservation of the life and health of underage passengers depends entirely on adult road users," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy Head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The death rate in road accidents is planned to be reduced by one and a half times by 2030.

According to operational information, in Russia during the first decade of summer (from June 1 to June 10) of this year, 259 accidents involving child passengers occurred, in which 17 children were killed and 292 children and teenagers were injured. On June 8, the State Traffic Inspectorate reported that the first summer weekends were marked by an increase in accidents involving minors.
