The Broadway Moscow Theater Company has announced a list of songs from great musicals that formed the basis for the new play "The Ghost of the Musical, or What's Wrong Again," created in collaboration with Ticketland and Yandex Afisha. The creative team of Russia's first sequel to the musical (the play is a continuation of the popular comedy "Mamma By! or the Musical went wrong") was inspired by the masterpieces of the world musical theater – many of them were loved by Russian audiences thanks to the Moscow stage versions and famous film adaptations.

In "The Phantom of the Musical", viewers will learn melodies from the musicals "The Phantom of the Opera", "Cats", "Chess", "Chicago", "Jesus Christ is a Superstar", "Notre Dame de Paris", "Moulin Rouge!" and "Hamilton". Among them are the legendary compositions The Phantom of the Opera, Memory, One Night in Bangkok, Cell Block Tango, Superstar, "It's Time for Cathedrals", Lady Marmalade, Bohemian Rhapsody and others, as well as the song "Don't be Afraid of Anything, I'm with You" from the Russian musical of the same name. However, these hits have never sounded in such a funny context: the authors of the "Ghost of the Musical" reinterpreted them in a comedic and parodic way. Somewhere fragments from famous songs become part of incendiary musical mixes, somewhere they suddenly change their meaning depending on what is happening on stage, and almost always turn into witty moves that move a sparkling plot. The Russian lyrics were written by the author of more than 30 musicals, Sergei Plotov, a playwright known for his exceptional sense of humor.

Many of the musicals that the creators of the parody play refer to are associated with the name of Dmitry Bogachev, the founder of Broadway Moscow. Thanks to him, Russian audiences saw The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, Singing in the Rain, Chicago, Cats, The Little Mermaid, Vampire Ball, Zorro, "The Sound of Music", Mamma Mia!, "Beauty and the Beast" and, of course, the phenomenally successful original musical from the hits of the Secret group "Don't be Afraid of Anything, I'm with you".

According to the plot of "The Phantom of the Musical," the theater at the regional recreation center should stage a new version of "The Phantom of the Opera" in Moscow in just one day. When the demands of the mysterious invisible producer become more and more absurd, the characters decide to assemble one performance from all the great musicals at once. This is how a fast-paced comedy is born, in which familiar melodies acquire a completely new sound.

The premiere of "The Ghost of the Musical" will take place on August 6 at the Theater on Tsvetnoy.
