Art Pictures Distribution will show Russian films in African countries

Russian films "Pinocchio", "Red Silk" and "Yaga on our Head" will be presented in Algeria and Morocco as part of the Russian Film Festival. This was announced on June 11 by Art Pictures Distribution.

The festival will be held in Algeria from June 15 to June 20, and in Morocco from June 18 to June 21. They were organized by Roskino with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. It is noted that Morocco will host the festival for the first time this year.

Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, noted that demonstrating the achievements of Russian cinema would contribute to Russia's cooperation with African countries. According to her, viewers from Africa will see films "reflecting important meanings and significant pages of our country's history."

"The release of the Russian films Pinocchio, Red Silk and Yaga on Your Head in Algeria and Morocco is an important step in developing cultural exchange and strengthening humanitarian ties between our countries. We see the growing interest of the international audience in modern Russian cinema and are glad to have the opportunity to present projects reflecting the diversity of Russian cinema to the North African audience. I am sure that these films will resonate with the audience and will contribute to the further expansion of cultural dialogue through the art of cinema," said Svetlana Balanova, General Director of the National Media Group (NMG).

Previously, the family film "Pinocchio" has already been presented at international film markets and festivals, including the Film Market in Berlin and the Marché du Film in Cannes. At the same time, the film has been sold in more than 50 countries.

"Russian cinema is developing more and more actively in international territories, and festival screenings are becoming an important part of this movement. <...>. We are pleased that this year the African direction is represented among the festival venues, which remains one of the least explored territories for cultural exchange and acquaintance with a new audience," said the CEO of Art Pictures Distribution Anastasia Korchagina.
