The cost of a CTP policy may vary several times depending on the driver's behavior on the road, his insurance history and the circle of people allowed to drive a car. Yaroslav Ostudin, an entrepreneur, investor and CEO of the Astro-Volga insurance company, told Izvestia on June 14.

According to him, one of the key factors influencing the price of the policy remains the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM), which reflects the driver's accident rate. The longer a motorist drives without an accident due to his own fault, the lower the cost of insurance.

"Drivers who have not been responsible for accidents for many years receive the minimum MSC. The maximum coefficient, on the contrary, is assigned to those who regularly get into accidents. As a result, the difference in the cost of CTP between these categories can be very significant," Ostudin said.

The expert stressed that the insurance history is affected not only by the number of accidents, but also by the general driving style. Aggressive maneuvers, sudden acceleration and braking increase the risk of road accidents, which in the future may affect the cost of insurance. A calmer and more predictable driving style helps to reduce the likelihood of accidents and maintain favorable insurance conditions.

Another way to reduce the cost of CTP is to review the list of persons allowed to drive a vehicle. Many car owners include a wide range of relatives or acquaintances in the policy, although in fact they rarely use the car.

"Each additional driver is accounted for by the insurer, taking into account his age, length of service and insurance history. If among those allowed to drive there are young motorists with little experience or drivers who have recently become the culprits of an accident, this can significantly increase the cost of the policy," the specialist explained.

At the same time, he warned that only those who really do not use a car should be excluded from the policy. If a person who is not included in the insurance contract turns out to be driving, the insurance company, after paying the victims, can recover these funds from the owner of the vehicle.

In addition, the coefficient of age and length of service has a significant impact on the cost of CTP. The older the driver is and the more experience he has in driving, the lower this indicator is and, consequently, insurance is cheaper.

According to Ostudin, novice motorists receive the highest coefficient, which significantly increases the price of the policy. With age and accumulation of driving experience, this indicator gradually decreases.

Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that the Bank of Russia (CBR) proposed to amend the CTP, according to which, in case of early cancellation of the policy, if the contract has not yet begun to operate, the consumer will be able to refund the money.
