The accident with a passenger bus that occurred in Yekaterinburg the day before, in which people died, was provoked by a public transport driver who ran a red light at the intersection. This was reported on June 11 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"According to the investigation, the driver, driving a shuttle bus, drove to the intersection at a forbidding traffic light, which provoked an accident and a subsequent hit on pedestrians," the message in the Maks messenger says.

Now a 49-year-old driver who violated traffic rules is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two or more persons"). And the director of the company that owns the vehicle, a 43—year-old man, is accused of committing a crime in accordance with Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers"). The relevant criminal cases have already been initiated.

Now these defendants have been detained and are awaiting charges for the subsequent election of preventive measures. At the same time, employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation are doing all the necessary procedures to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy: they appoint examinations, conduct searches, talk with eyewitnesses, and also study video surveillance recordings and all documentation.

Criminal cases, as explained in the department, are under the jurisdiction of the first department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the SU IC of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region.
