The German carmaker Mercedes intends to launch a joint project with the Munich-based company Tytan Technologies, which, in particular, supplies interceptor drones to Kiev. Der Spiegel magazine writes about this.

The parties are going to create mobile units to counter drones based on Mercedes G-class military SUVs. The vehicles are planned to be equipped with Drone Defender anti-drone systems from a Munich-based startup.

Mobile groups are supposed to be used to protect Germany's critical infrastructure from UAV attacks. It will be possible to use means of destroying drones both directly from the platform and after deployment on the ground.

In addition to infrastructure defense, such platforms can be used in a combat zone, including as part of a group with a command center based on a Sprinter vehicle.

The company plans to announce the launch of the project on Wednesday at the International Aerospace Exhibition in Berlin. Der Spiegel notes that this is another example of the German automotive industry's rapprochement with the defense industry amid the crisis in the automotive industry due to competition with Chinese manufacturers.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky announced yesterday that Ukraine and Latvia have signed a deal to develop cooperation in the field of joint production of drones. When signing this agreement, Zelensky also invited Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to shoot down Ukrainian UAVs flying over the region at their own expense.
