Lavrov confirmed the visit of the Eurotroika ambassadors to the Russian Foreign Ministry

The ambassadors of Great Britain, France and Germany will be received at the Russian Foreign Ministry, where they will be listened to on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. This was announced on June 10 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following a meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers.

"The ambassadors of these countries — Britain, France and Germany — are requesting a meeting with my deputy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We will meet with them and listen to them," he said.

According to Lavrov, the Russian side will be interested to hear how the representatives of the countries will be able to present the information so that it can then "lead to constructive thoughts."

At the same time, the Foreign Minister recalled that in April 2022, the leaders of the Eurotroika "had the opportunity to distinguish themselves" during the Istanbul talks with the Ukrainian side. However, later, as Lavrov added, "they distinguished themselves with a minus sign," since it was these countries that forbade representatives of Ukraine to sign preliminary agreements on the principles of settlement and cessation of hostilities with the Russian Federation.

The Russian Federation does not refuse to negotiate with Europe, but demands respect for the interests of the country.

On the eve of the Kremlin's official representative Dmitry Peskov said that it was unacceptable to begin mediation by the European Union (EU) in resolving the conflict in Ukraine by setting conditions for Russia. He added that so far Europe is "far" from the role of a mediator in the negotiations.

On June 7, the leaders of the Eurotroika countries called for the active participation of European states and the United States in negotiations with Russia on ending the conflict in Ukraine. They also called for an immediate ceasefire and the start of negotiations based on the established line of contact. At the same time, politicians opposed the forceful change of Ukraine's state borders.
