Zakharova called the ban on Russian books in Ukraine "cosmic nonsense."
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky is creating "cosmic nonsense" by banning the works of Russian writers in his country. This was stated on June 10 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova during her briefing.
She recalled how five years ago, in 2021, the Ukrainian leader demonstrated books published in his country in Russian. Then, as Zakharova recalls, commenting on the absence of a ban on Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita," he quoted Professor Preobrazhensky from the work "The Heart of a Dog."
"[Zelensky] assured me, this is a quote from Zelensky, 2021. "The news about the ban," Zelensky said in 2021, "Bulgakov <...> is, as Professor Preobrazhensky would say, nonsense on a cosmic scale. Today we see that the cosmic—scale nonsense was implemented by Zelensky in Ukraine by the hands of his accomplices," Zakharova said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that representatives of the Kiev regime are not even shy about their deception. According to her, it seems that they, on the contrary, are proud of him. At the same time, as Zakharova pointed out, first of all, the Ukrainian leader and his subordinates managed to deceive their own people.
She also commented on the ban imposed by the Poltava City Council on the content of materials in Russian in this administrative unit. So, she jokingly suggested that soon in Ukraine they might start fining even for thoughts in Russian.
The fact that a complete ban on Russian-language content was introduced in Poltava in Ukraine became known on June 1. Then the Commissioner for the protection of the state language of the country, Elena Ivanovskaya, explained the need for this step to "protect" the population of her country from the alleged influence of Russia. According to her, such measures apply to the public use of Russian-language books, musical works, films, theatrical productions, concert programs and cultural and educational events in Poltava.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on June 6 that Moscow would definitely restore the rights of Russians who had been violated by Kiev. This, as he explained, is a condition for a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He also stated on May 15 that Ukraine is the only country in the world where the official language of the United Nations (UN) is prohibited in all spheres of life.
