The head of Volga explained the choice of cars for the new brand
The Volga car brand plans to focus on the crossover segment, as such cars are more versatile. The entire automotive market is steadily shifting towards SUVs, while sedans are declining in all segments, from B to D. This was stated by the head of the Volga brand Tatiana Fadeeva.
"In the climatic conditions of Russia, good cross-country ability and all-wheel drive are critically important. Such a car is equally effective for both business and family trips. Therefore, the bulk of Volga sales is expected to fall on the crossover segment — this is an objective request from our customers," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Fadeeva as saying on June 10.
The top manager also shared that the company is currently launching large-scale projects to develop the styling of future generations of Volga cars and plans to actively attract young talents to them.
At the first stage, there will be two crossovers and one sedan in the Volga line, all based on Geely models. According to Fadeeva, the launch of fundamentally new Volga models may take place no earlier than 2028.
Fadeeva reported on June 8 that in 2026 it is planned to assemble about 30 thousand Volga cars at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod. By the end of the year, the company expects to sell 25-27 thousand vehicles. Volga sales will start on June 19. About 25-30 dealerships in Russia are already ready for launch.
As it became known on May 26, the Volga C50 sedan will cost from 2.9 million rubles, the K40 crossover from 2.75 million rubles, and the K50 crossover from 4.2 million rubles.
