The Museum of the History of the Far East received the body of a tiger shot down on the highway

In Khabarovsk, the Grodno Museum of Local Lore received the body of the tiger Odyr, who was shot down on the highway in the winter of 2025. They will make a scarecrow out of it, and the new exhibit will replace the one that was installed in the museum back in the 1950s.

IA AmurMedia clarifies that the male died in December 2025 on the 23rd km of the A-370 Ussuri highway. The predator jumped onto the road and collided with a car. This is the second such incident on this stretch of road. A year earlier, a female tiger died under the same circumstances. Experts believe that large predators do not use arched underpasses, as they are afraid of enclosed spaces. As a result, they end up on the roadway and get run over by cars.

A male and a female Amur tiger came to Khekhtsir in 2018 from the western shores of Sikhote-Alin and created a pair. They were given the names Odyr and Zlata after the rivers Odyr and Zolotoy, which originate from the slopes of Bolshoy Khekhtsir. Their lives are being studied by scientists of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Zapovednoe Priamurye".

According to Nina Markova, acting Director General of the Grodek Museum, this is one of the first cases when a downed Red Book animal legally enters the museum. The transfer of the animal's body to the museum gives it a second life in the exhibition. The exhibit will be installed in the Nature Hall.
