AI traffic lights installed at intersections of Khabarovsk

Artificial intelligence traffic lights have appeared at several intersections in Khabarovsk. Their goal is to increase the efficiency of traffic regulation, reduce the load on the main urban highways and promptly respond to changes in traffic flows.

The installation of detectors is carried out within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" and the national program "United Russia". Nine traffic lights will appear in Khabarovsk this year. 47.4 million rubles were allocated for these purposes. Next year, it is planned to equip another 40, for which about 140 million rubles are provided.

According to IA AmurMedia with reference to the regional Ministry of Transport, if the previous traffic lights had a filter diameter of 200 mm, then the new ones will have 300 mm. There is another lens above the road to make the traffic light more visible to drivers and pedestrians.

According to Dmitry Nechaev, deputy director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Scientific and Production Center for Traffic Management, artificial intelligence analyzes the situation using cameras and sensors and draws up a traffic light operation scheme.

Detectors began to be installed in Khabarovsk, taking into account the experience of other cities where these technologies have shown their effectiveness. The AI analyzes the traffic flow and the number of passengers at different times of the day and adjusts the phases of traffic lights based on these data.

At the end of April, it was reported that durable reflective markings would appear on the roads of Khabarovsk. It began to be applied after constant positive air temperatures were established.
