Beijing strongly opposes Washington's unilateral illegal anti-Russian sanctions that have affected Chinese companies. This was announced on June 10 by the press secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Liu Pengyu.

"The Chinese side strongly opposes the illegal unilateral US sanctions," he said in an interview with TASS.

Pengyu clarified that his state will continue to defend the legitimate rights of its infringed companies. Accordingly, he commented on the American measures against Russia, which will affect 21 Chinese organizations.

The representative of the Chinese diplomatic mission stressed that trade and economic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing does not contradict either the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) or market principles. He stated that the existing ties with Russia are not directed against third countries and should not be subject to outside interference.

The bill on the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions and assistance to Ukraine was submitted to the Senate a day earlier. It was noted that the initiative has already been approved in the House of Representatives. 226 political figures supported its adoption on June 9, while 195 opposed it.

At the same time, the European Union (EU) began discussing the contents of a potential 21st package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. On the same day, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the introduction of a possible ban on entry to Europe for participants in the special operation. The measures may extend to the sale of tankers to the Russian Federation for the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and technologies for the military-industrial complex (MIC).

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in turn, on June 5, during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), said that his country's economy continues to develop despite the sanctions.
