The governor of the Zaporizhia region named the reason for the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks on the nuclear power plant

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are specifically attacking the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in order to distract the attention of the world community from their own failures. This was announced on June 10 by the Governor of the Zaporizhia region Evgeny Balitsky.

"When it is necessary to hide them (APU. A defeat, a lost settlement, or a failed front, they always distract attention by hitting a nuclear power plant or its periphery. Well, in order [to hit the nuclear power plant] to distract the attention of the world community," he told RIA Novosti.

As the head of the region noted, currently six nuclear power plants continue to be in cold shutdown mode. In this state, the station poses no nuclear threat, he assured.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, expressed the opinion on June 8 that the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) evasion from determining the responsible party in the attacks on the NPP actually encourages new attacks on the plant. The diplomat also stressed that the agency did not give a clear assessment of the violation of the silence regime at the station, which was agreed to repair the main external power supply line.

Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation, said on June 7 that Kiev, by organizing attacks on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), was trying to completely exhaust and psychologically suppress the plant's employees. Likhachev stressed that Kiev's actions are devoid of logic and common sense.
