On June 10, the United States launched strikes against Iran in response to the downing of an Apache helicopter. Read about the details of the incident in the Izvestia article.

What happened

The United States has launched strikes against Iran in response to the downing of an Apache helicopter, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) said.

"CENTCOM forces, on the instructions of the Commander—in-Chief, launched self-defense strikes against Iran in response to yesterday's shooting down of a US Army Apache helicopter," the statement said.

According to the military, the operation is a "proportionate response" to Iran's actions.

The FARS news agency reported that explosions were heard in the eastern regions of Iran's Hormozgan province in the Kohstak, Sirik and Minab districts.

Targets of US strikes

Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin reported that the targets of the strikes are Iranian air defense systems and radar stations.

"A US official told Fox: strikes are being carried out on Iran, the targets include air defense and radar installations," she said.

The same information is provided by Axios portal journalist Barak Ravid with reference to an American official.

"An American official: "US forces attacked several Iranian air defense and radar systems in the Strait of Hormuz," the publication says.

US-Iran Talks

The US authorities believe that the strikes will be a warning to the republic, and also will not interfere with the course of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict, CNN reports.

US President Donald Trump also expressed the opinion that a deal between Washington and Tehran can be concluded, despite the resumption of attacks.

Iran's response to the strikes

The head of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araqchi, said that the Iranian army would not leave any attack or threat unanswered, and called on the United States to leave the region.

"Despite their defeats on the battlefield, the United States has decided to test our resolve. Our powerful armed forces will not leave any attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe. The history of the Persian Gulf contains many chapters about the sad fates of the invading aliens," the minister wrote on the social network X.

Later, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced the launch of missiles and drones at US targets.
