Slovakia assessed the consequences of abandoning Russian gas

Refusal to supply gas from Russia could cost Slovakia hundreds of millions of euros in additional costs. This was stated by Ondrej Szebesta, a representative of the Slovak gas transmission operator SPP, in an interview with Pravda newspaper.

"Russian natural gas supplies are the most cost-effective for us. Completing its import may require higher additional costs. These increased costs can reach hundreds of millions of euros only in Slovakia," he said.

According to Shebest, SPP is actively looking for options to replace Russian fuel. The company is negotiating with global suppliers and producers of natural gas.

In the context of the growing contradictions between Bratislava and Budapest and Kiev, armed provocations are not excluded.

On May 14, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused Brussels of pushing Europe towards an energy policy that would force the continent to pay more for Russian fuel and at the same time increasingly depend on the United States. The Prime Minister expressed outrage over the fact that some countries continue to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia, despite statements about the termination of purchases.
