Germany plans to allocate another €300 million as part of the Czech Republic's initiative to supply shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on June 9 by the head of the German Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, during a conference with his Czech counterpart, Jaromir Zuna.

"Germany, as I have already announced to you today, will participate in this initiative by allocating another €300 million. This is about 50,000 long—range artillery shells," he said at a conference, which was recorded on his YouTube channel by the German Phoenix news agency.

Zuna recalled that we are talking about the Prague 2024 initiative, which was joined by about 20 states. He also said that the Czech Republic shares NATO's concerns about the security of the eastern border and has already sent its troops to the Eastern European and Baltic countries of the bloc.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 8 that Macron, Merz and Starmer were talking about peace in Ukraine and at the same time supporting Kiev by continuing the conflict. He added that the actions of European countries in providing military support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are inconsistent.

On June 7, Russian law enforcement agencies reported the elimination of Czech citizen Jakub Yurchaga in the area of a special military operation (SVO), who defected to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and joined the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK, an organization banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as a terrorist organization).
