In Transbaikalia, 5% more potatoes were planted

Potato planting has been fully completed in Transbaikalia. In the current 2026, work took place on an area of 617 hectares, which is 5% more than a year earlier. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday, June 9.

The Chita district has the largest potato fields (309 hectares). Uletovsky is next (187 ha), Karymsky closes the top three (71 ha). Sowing also took place in seven more districts, including Baleysky, Sretensky and Aginsky.

Planting of other indoor vegetables is coming to an end in the region. To date, the work has been completed on an area of 49 hectares, which is 80% of the plan.

According to the ChitaMedia news agency, the vegetable sowing campaign is due to end this week. Cabbage seedlings will be planted last.

Earlier it was reported that in early June, spring wheat sowing was completed in Transbaikalia by more than 90%. Farmers have sown crops on an area of 27 thousand hectares out of the planned 32.7 thousand hectares.
