Parking in Moscow will be free on Russia Day
Parking on the streets of Moscow will be free on June 12-13 in honor of Russia Day. This was announced in the "Max" by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
Motorists will be able to park their cars for free, including on streets where tariffs of 380, 450 and 600 rubles per hour apply, as well as in dynamic fare zones. Parking lots with a barrier will continue to operate as usual all days, Sobyanin noted.
As previously estimated by the Moscow Department of Transport, in total in 2026 it will be possible to park for free for 71 days in Moscow. This number includes 50 Sundays when free parking is available, except on streets with fares of 380, 450 and 600 rubles per hour and a dynamic tariff. There are also 21 public holidays when parking is free everywhere (except where there is a barrier): January 1-10, February 23, March 8-9, May 1-2, 9 and 11, June 12-13, November 4, December 31.
Moscow has started issuing car license plates with the new region code 997. As noted on June 6, one of the first cars with a new series number was spotted on Andropov Avenue in the south of the capital near the Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve.
