- Dmitriev pointed to the fatigue of German citizens from the mistakes made by politicians.
The citizens of Germany are tired of the stubborn unwillingness of their politicians to correct their mistakes. This was announced on June 9 by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic cooperation.
"The Germans are tired of the stubborn unwillingness [of the authorities] to correct erroneous policies," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Dmitriev attached to his post a publication by the German newspaper Die Welt, which described an anti-government rally taking place in Berlin. The authors accompanied the article with photos from this action, one of which shows a poster with the inscription "[German Chancellor Friedrich] Merz must leave!".
On June 6, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund commented on the anti-record set by Merz in terms of popularity among the population. He expressed bewilderment at what exactly the German chancellor had done, that only 15% of respondents were satisfied with his work. On May 27, Sarah Wagenknecht, the leader of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) party, demanded the resignation of Merz, who by his decisions is leading the whole country to decline. She predicted that if this did not happen in three years, the state would be beyond saving.
On June 8, Izvestia published footage from mass rallies across Germany. The protesters demanded early elections and expressed dissatisfaction with the current political course of the country.
