The Shiveluch volcano spewed ash to a height of 10 km in Kamchatka
The Shiveluch volcano spewed ash up to a height of 10 km in the Kamchatka Territory. Ashfall is likely in three municipal districts.
The volcano has been assigned a "red" aviation security code. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that the ash plume is spreading in a northwesterly direction deep into the peninsula, KamchatkaMedia news agency writes.
If the wind changes, small ashfalls are possible in Ust-Kamchatsky, Milkovsky and Bystrinsky districts. Currently, ash deposition is not observed in the populated area.
The activity of Shiveluch has been observed for several days. On June 4, ash was reported to have been released to a height of about 8 km at the height of the volcano itself of 3283 m.
