Pavel Zubov will head the Lada hockey club
Pavel Zubov has been appointed head coach of the Lada hockey club. This was announced on the team's website on June 8.
"Lada Hockey Club presents the updated coaching staff of the team: Pavel Zubov is the head coach," the publication says.
The new coaching staff also includes Igor Gorbenko and Nikolai Zolotukhin, who will be responsible for working with forwards, Vladimir Chebaturkin will take the position of defenders coach, Ildar Davydov will work with goalkeepers, and Stanislav Kolpakov will be a general fitness coach.
It is noted that Zubov is a graduate of Tolyatti hockey. As a player, he played as a defender and twice became the champion of Russia with Lada in 1994 and 1996. The specialist started his coaching career in 2009.
Olympic champion and two-time world champion in hockey Sergey Shirokov announced his retirement from professional hockey on May 28. The 40-year-old striker spoke about his decision while receiving the Sergei Gimaev Prize for loyalty to hockey. In the last regular season, the forward played 56 matches for Novosibirsk Siberia.
