The incidence of borreliosis has soared four times in the Tula region

The Tula region ranked 13th in Russia in terms of the number of cases of ixodic tick-borne borreliosis per 110 thousand people in 2025. This is stated in the report of Rospotrebnadzor. The indicator in the region is 9.6 cases.

According to these data, Moscow ranks first (21.9). This is followed by the Kirov Region (20.8), Lipetsk Region (20.3), Oryol Region (18), followed by the Voronezh Region, Perm Krai, Ryazan and Kaluga Regions.

According to TSN24 with reference to the Rospotrebnadzor of the Tula region, 104 cases of ixodes tick-borne borreliosis were registered in 10 months of 2025. In the winter of 2026, 12 cases of this disease were detected in the region. Among them are those who were negligent about the tick bite and those who did not notice the bite and the development of the parasite.

The sanitary authorities note that in 2025, the incidence increased by 97%, and compared with the long—term average, it increased by 3.8 times. According to this indicator, the Tula region is second only to the Orel region, where it soared 5.7 times.

Since the beginning of 2026, more than 1,000 people have been affected by ticks in the Tula region. It was found that on average, every fifth tick is infected with borrelia. In addition, parasites that transmit anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis have been identified in the region.

Earlier, on June 5, it was reported that in the Irkutsk region, since the beginning of the season, more than 10 thousand people have sought medical help in connection with tick bites. Pest activity has increased compared to 2025. More than 7.3 thousand ticks were received for research in the laboratory. Over 1,400 pests turned out to be carriers of borreliosis, and another 60 ticks carried the encephalitis virus. Infection with borreliosis has been confirmed in 13 people. Three more people have contracted rickettsiosis.
