MEPs called for new formats of dialogue with Russia

Europe needs to strive to create new formats of dialogue with the Russian Federation instead of betting on escalation and economic war. This was announced on June 8 by MEPs Ruth Firmenich and Michael von der Schulenburg from the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party.

"We consider it extremely necessary to create new formats of public dialogue with Russia instead of betting on further escalation and economic war," RIA Novosti quoted the parliamentarians as saying.

Deputies noted that continue the dialogue initiated last year during a visit to Russia on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany. In addition, the politicians also pointed out that the conflict with Russia is damaging, first of all, the European Union and Germany.

The parliamentarians are on a visit to Moscow at the invitation of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They are scheduled to meet with representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the State Duma and civil society.
