Lada Sport showed an improved racing Niva

The Lada Sport Rosneft sports team presented the updated Lada Niva Sport Turbo racing SUV. This year, the team will put two such prototypes at the start of the stages of the Russian Rally Raid Championship, the team said in a statement received by Izvestia on June 8.

Representatives of the team said that the car had received serious improvements to participate in rally raid competitions. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 280 hp and a sequential gearbox, as well as a fully redesigned suspension, braking system and all-wheel drive system.

The cars will be driven by the winners of the Silk Road Rally 2024 Dmitry Voronov and Kirill Yenikeev, as well as the bronze medalists of the first stage of the Russian Rally Championship Mikhail Mityaev and Egor Okhotnikov. The season will start in mid-July (bach "Hills of Russia", Ulyanovsk-Syzran) and end in early November (bach "Quiet Don", Rostov region). The prototype of the Niva first debuted at last year's Silk Road, and this year it has already covered the 1,000-kilometer distance of Astrakhan's Golden Kagan Monastery.

"We plan not only to participate in competitions and fight for high positions, but also to systematically develop this car technically. In order to claim the highest places in the International Silk Road Rally next season," said Vladislav Nezvankin, head of the Lada Sport Rosneft racing team.
