Srdjan Blagojevich was appointed head coach of FC Akron
Serbian specialist Srdjan Blagojevich has been appointed head coach of Tolyatti football club (FC) Akron. The relevant information was posted on the team's official website on June 8.
"The Serbian specialist has signed a four—year contract with our club," the statement said.
Blagojevich began his coaching career in Serbia, where he worked with the Injia club for more than two years. Later, he led Kazakhstan's Kaspiy and Astana, and in the 2022/23 season he led the Hungarian Debrecen to the bronze medals of the national championship. In 2024, he was named the best foreign coach in Hungary. For the last year and a half, the specialist led the Serbian Partizan, with whom he took second and third places in the local league.
"The key point in choosing a new coach was his ability and commitment to building proactive football. Srdjan has proven himself to be a specialist who knows how to make good use of his team's strengths and develop players," said Akron owner Pavel Morozov.
Konstantin Klyushev, the club's general director, noted that various RPL teams had shown interest in the Serbian coach back in the winter. According to him, Blagojevich's extensive experience in various championships should help Akron take a step forward. In the near future, the club intends to introduce a full staff of assistants to the new head coach.
Akron announced on May 17 that Zaur Tedeev had resigned as head coach. According to Morozov, the club expected to spend the spring part of the season more stable after high-quality training during the winter break.
