Fraudsters are increasingly exploiting drivers' interest in cheap electronic CTP policies and selling fake insurance through clone sites, fake links and ads on social networks. The head of the Moscow Insurance Agency, Artyom Avadyaev, warned about this on Monday, June 8.

According to the expert, the main trap of such schemes lies in the external similarity with the present design. A person sees a familiar design, enters the details of the car, receives a payment and pays for the policy, and the money goes not to the insurance company, but to the attackers. He stressed that the first alarm signal is the price, which is noticeably lower than usual.

"CTP is calculated according to the approved rules, so there can be no miraculous discounts twice. The second sign is a request to transfer money to an individual's card or pay using a questionable link. The third is the lack of normal details of the insurer, errors in the company name, a strange website address," Avadyaev clarified in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

He added that a fake electronic policy can look convincing: with a number, seal, driver's table and car data. After purchase, it is important to check the availability of the contract in the official database, and this can be done through the NSIS service: verification is available based on vehicle data, including the license plate, VIN, body or chassis number, he said.

Avadyaev recommended checking the details: insurance company, expiration date, VIN, license plate number and list of approved drivers. If at least one key parameter does not match, you cannot use such a document, he stressed.

If the driver finds out about the forgery after an accident, for the law it is actually the absence of a valid CTP, and the damage to the victims will have to be reimbursed independently, and additionally there may be a fine, the head of the insurance agency warned.

The expert also called for careful monitoring of personal data: when applying for a fake policy, the driver himself transmits passport data, information about the car and driver's license to fraudsters.

Earlier, on May 18, Anton Nemkin, a State Duma deputy and federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project, told RT that hackers were creating fake websites copying pages of insurance companies and offering to issue an electronic policy at a "bargain price." He stressed that the main goal of the attackers is not only to steal money from a bank card, but also to collect personal data. 360.ru .

In turn, Andrey Rybnikov, a lecturer at the Institute of Information Technologies of RTU MIREA, warned that it is possible to verify the authenticity of the policy only through the unified register on the official website of the Russian Union of Insurers (RSA).

Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that the Bank of Russia (CBR) proposed to amend the CTP, according to which, in case of early cancellation of the policy, if the contract has not yet begun to operate, the consumer will be able to refund the money.
