The Art Pictures Distribution film Company (part of the National Media Group), in honor of its birthday on June 8, analyzed the collections of its own projects over the years of foreign distribution.

Art Pictures Distribution turns nine years old. The distributor's projects continue to successfully enter international distribution, and the largest foreign collections for Russian films are traditionally provided by Asian and Latin American countries, as well as selected European markets. According to the results of last year, the geography of international distribution of Art Pictures Distribution covered 90 countries of the world.

The absolute leader in foreign collections among the company's projects remains the sports franchise "Ice" directed by Oleg Trofim (2018) — the film earned $3.3 million outside of Russia. The main driver of success, according to the distributor, was the rental in China, which brought the film more than $ 2.7 million. The project has also performed well in South Korea, Serbia and the Baltic states.

This is followed by "The Code of the Apocalypse" directed by Vadim Shmelev (2007) with international collections of $2.4 million. It is noteworthy that after almost two decades, one of the most notable Russian releases in China was once again the Art Pictures Distribution project, the detective action film "Red Silk" directed by Andrei Volgin (2025), which grossed $1.8 million at the Chinese box office.

Among the largest foreign projects are paintings directed by Fyodor Bondarchuk. For example, the film adaptation of the Strugatsky brothers' novel The Inhabited Island (2008) earned $1.9 million abroad. The continuation of the project "Inhabited Island: The Fight" (2009) raised almost $670 thousand.

In addition, the fantastic blockbuster "Attraction" (2017) earned $1.4 million, having performed most successfully in Bulgaria, Mexico and China. Its sequel, Invasion (2020), grossed another $1.1 million through rentals in Mexico, Germany, South Korea, and Vietnam.

The military drama "9th Company" (2005) and the comedy melodrama "Heat" (2006) were also among the notable international releases, each of which broke the $1 million mark.

The distributor separately noted the new film adaptation of Pinocchio directed by Igor Voloshin (2026), one of the company's new releases, which has already been sold in more than 50 countries around the world. The film was shown in cinemas in the USA, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Cyprus and Latin American countries — the distribution continues. The next stage will be entering the Middle East markets: agreements have been reached with leading distributors of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. "Pinocchio" will be the first film by the National Media Group to be widely distributed in these countries.

The data from Art Pictures Distribution confirms that Russian projects continue to find their audience abroad, and family films, fiction, and film franchises remain the most sought-after export destinations.

The Russian film Pinocchio, an adaptation of the fairy tale of the same name, will be presented at the Russian Film Festival in Serbia, which will be held from June 9 to 30 as part of the Days of Russian Spiritual Culture in Serbia. The participating cities of the event will be Belgrade, Nis, Subotica, Pirot, Aleksandrovac, Varvarin, Krusevac, Aleksinac, Sokobanja and Jagodina. The event is organized by the state-owned Roskino company with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
