Putin was informed about the construction of icebreakers and the modernization of shipyards

By the end of 2025, the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) achieved a positive financial result with revenue of 525 billion rubles, having delivered about 110 vessels in three years with the support of the government. At a meeting with Vladimir Putin, the head of the USC, Andrei Puchkov, noted the rhythmic fulfillment of the state defense order, the construction of nuclear icebreakers and the active modernization of shipyards to ensure a long-term foundation.

What was discussed at the meeting

The Russian government and the banking sector provided extensive financial support to USC. In 2023-2024, the volume of state aid exceeded 80 billion rubles. As Vladimir Putin noted, USC is considered the leading Russian association in the field of shipbuilding, which includes not only shipyards and ship repair plants, but also research centers, design bureaus and instrument base.

Over the past three years, the corporation's revenue has increased by 30%, reaching 525 billion rubles by the end of 2025. Andrey Puchkov, the head of USC, stressed that the company has been in a positive zone in terms of profitability for the second year in a row. In total, about 110 ships and vessels were delivered to customers over a three-year period. The record year was 2025, during which shipbuilders handed over about 50 units of marine and river equipment.

In the segment of the state defense order, the corporation's enterprises maintain the rhythm of their work. Four submarines were transferred to the Navy, as well as the first combat icebreaker Ivan Papanin. A number of significant events under the State Budget are planned for 2026. Within the framework of civilian programs, the implementation of the largest series of nuclear icebreakers in history continues: Yakutia has been commissioned, Chukotka, as well as Leningrad and Stalingrad are being completed. Vladimir Putin separately pointed out the need to "do everything so that work on two icebreakers, Leningrad and Stalingrad, does not get stuck, and also instructed to continue implementing plans for the flagship icebreaker of the Leader project.

At the ceremony, the President noted the importance of developing the Transarctic corridor from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok and named Russia's key priorities in the Arctic.

To create a long-term technological foundation by the middle of this century, USC is deploying a large-scale modernization of production facilities. In 2026, a key project for the complete restructuring of the Severnaya Verf plant will start, Far Eastern projects will be implemented, as well as programs for import substitution of ship components and deep digitalization of the industry.
