There is no connection between the lunar cycle and nightmares and sleep disorders. Sofia Cherkasova, a somnologist and Candidate of medical Sciences, told Izvestia about this.

"Some small scientific papers really conclude that sleep disorders and nightmares are associated with the lunar cycle. Moreover, this is not a cause-and-effect relationship, but simply a correlation. But most of the work does not find any interaction between these parameters," Cherkasova said.

In turn, Pavel Khoroshev, a neurologist at the Military Medical Academy, noted in a conversation with Izvestia that some people may actually sleep worse during the full moon, but there is a simple physiological explanation for this phenomenon.

"There is only one factor that affects people on a full moon — it's a little more light that reflects off the moon. It also prevents people from sleeping. But this inconvenience is easily solved by curtains," he explained.
