Starting from June 15, the crossing through the Ivangorod checkpoint in the Leningrad Region towards Estonia will be carried out only during the day. This was announced on June 8 by the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

It is noted that such a schedule was introduced due to a four-hour reduction in the operation of the checkpoint from Estonia.

"In order to synchronize the operation of adjacent border checkpoints, individuals will also pass through the Ivangorod checkpoint towards the Republic of Estonia from 07:00 to 19:00," Yevgeny Skoryukov, head of the Ivangorod checkpoint customs post, is quoted as saying on the website of the North-Western Customs Administration.

The Federal Customs Service clarified that due to the onset of the holiday season, the number of people wishing to cross the border will increase significantly. The new work schedule may lead to queues. The press service added that citizens who crossed through the Narva-1 checkpoint in Estonia at about 19:00 will be able to pass through the control on the side of the Russian Federation. The Ivangorod checkpoint will be open around the clock.

A day earlier, the press service of the St. Petersburg Customs reported that queues of people wishing to cross the border towards Russia had formed again at the checkpoint in Narva, Estonia. The press service stressed that the reasons for the queues are related to the activities of Estonian government agencies.
