- MDM will host the latest screenings of the musicals "First Date" and "Valentine's Day"
The romantic comedy musicals "First Date" and "Valentine's Day", created by the Broadway Moscow theater company, will be held at the Maska Theater (MDM Theater) only until July 19.
"First Date" and "Valentine's Day" are the only examples of an original stage series in the Russian musical theater under the unofficial name "Love really". Two independent performances, which can be watched separately, are a frank and very funny conversation with the audience about how people are looking for, finding and trying to keep love, despite all the obstacles.
The Broadway musical "First Date" tells about the acquaintance of two completely different New Yorkers, both in temperament and environment. He is a modest and charming bank employee who has never let go of his past love. She is an artist, a creative person, and a real flighty person who is attracted exclusively to "bad guys." A blind date arranged by his loved ones turns into an emotional roller coaster, where romantic excitement is mixed with awkward pauses, unexpected confessions and ... endless advice from friends, relatives and even the family priest, sounding right in the heads of the characters. "First Date" was written by "Gossip Girl" screenwriter, playwright Austin Winsberg, and Disney project composers Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner.
"Valentine's Day" takes viewers to a new stage of their relationship. After a year of cloudless living together, the couple is preparing for a wedding, but the upcoming holiday suddenly becomes a real challenge. All the same people – relatives, friends, colleagues, and even former lovers – have their own idea of what the ceremony should be like and are ready to actively defend it. The characters no longer know if they are still dreaming of the perfect wedding, or if they just want not to go crazy in this whirl of unsolicited opinions. The music for the play was composed by the winner of the Golden Mask Award, the author of 15 musicals Evgeny Zagot.
Modern set design, witty dialogues, a live orchestra on stage, and stories in which it's easy to recognize yourself have made "First Date" and "Valentine's Day" one of the most beloved musicals in Moscow.
The cast includes stars of the Russian musical theater Yulia Iva, Pavel Levkin, Yulia Churakova, Yulia Dovganishina, Oleg Savtsov and others.
