A drone exploded in the center of Moldova at night
An unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) entered the territory of Moldova and detonated in the Ogreyevsky district near the city of Lopatna. This was announced on June 8 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
"The discovery of fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle in an agricultural area near the Lopatna area has been confirmed. Traces found at the scene indicate a previous explosion," the Telegram channel said.
It is noted that this drone was detected by the surveillance systems of the national army and cross-border cooperation at 00:20 Moscow time. Now the fragments of the device are being examined to clarify all the circumstances of the incident, and the situation is under control.
On May 29, the Russian Embassy in Chisinau announced that Moldova, together with its partners, could prepare mock-ups of alleged drone crashes. It was noted at the time that the purpose of such an action could be to blame Moscow for the incident in order to escalate bilateral relations. As the Russian diplomatic mission recalled, all the previously made accusations of Russia's involvement in the "UAV crashes" were not supported by evidence.
