The tsunami threat was announced in Japan after the earthquake in the Philippines. This was reported on June 8 by the Japanese NHK TV channel.

In this regard, the Mie Prefecture announced an evacuation for more than 42.5 thousand people.

"Mie Prefecture <...> issued an evacuation order for 22,201 households and 42,611 people in the city of Shima," the publication says.

In addition, evacuations have been announced in the cities of Kagoshima, Aichi and Shizuoka prefectures.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on June 8 that an earthquake of magnitude 8.1 occurred off the coast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. A tsunami threat was announced in connection with the earthquake. The height of the waves may be above the norm by 1 m. Residents of nine provinces of the Philippines were called upon to evacuate their homes in connection with the incident.
