The leader of the Strong Armenia party, Samvel Karapetyan, told Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin about possible fraud and pressure on the opposition in the parliamentary elections.

According to Karapetyan, about 700 people from his party have been arrested, 80 of them have already been sent to prison "for unknown reasons." He called it impossible to consider these elections democratic. He also said that the authorities, having counted about 20% of the ballots and seeing that their rating was rapidly falling, stopped counting and announced their victory, promising to announce the final results only in the morning.

"They took it, stopped the bill, and said that in the morning at 09:00 (08:00 Moscow time) they would announce the results only. Well, of course it doesn't happen that way. If you count something, you have to count to the end," he stressed.

Karapetyan promised to make a new statement after the official results were announced and did not rule out challenging them.
