Queues of those wishing to vote gathered at polling stations in Armenia

Many people came to vote in the parliamentary elections in Armenia, which are being held in the republic on June 6. Footage from the scene is published by Izvestia.

"Queues have formed at polling stations, people are rushing to cast their votes," said Alexey Poltoranin, a correspondent for Izvestia.

He stressed that these elections for Armenia mean not only the distribution of seats in parliament, but also determine the course in which the republic will move in the future.

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan of the Armenian Apostolic Church, who is considered one of the political opponents of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on the same day called on the country's citizens to participate in the parliamentary elections. He added that he intends to go to the city of Ijevan, where he is registered at his place of residence, to take part in the voting.

Political analyst Tigran Kocharyan, in turn, said that Pashinyan is putting pressure on the opposition because of the elections and is using administrative resources to mobilize his "supporters." He also pointed to Pashinyan's desire to intimidate the opposition-minded population of Armenia by arresting citizens daily and creating an atmosphere of fear.
