The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department (OFAC) has extended the deadline for negotiations on the acquisition of Russian shares in the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) by the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL until June 16. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on June 7.

"MOL has received permission from OFAC to continue negotiations until June 16," the publication says.

It is noted that there is a possibility of reaching a compromise between Serbia and the Hungarian company, but this will require the completion of all negotiations between MOL and the Russian side.

On January 19, the MOL press service announced the signing of a preliminary binding agreement to acquire a 56.15% stake in NIS. Upon completion of the transaction, MOL will receive significant control rights and shareholder responsibilities in the company, which operates the only oil refinery in Serbia.
