The media reported a drop in Merz's rating to a record high
The level of dissatisfaction with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz among the German population has reached 77%, thereby setting a new anti-record. This was reported on June 6 by the Bild newspaper with reference to the requested study by the INSA Sociological Institute.
"According to a recent poll by Insa for Bild, only 15% are still satisfied with Friedrich Merz's work. This is a record low — and a drop of four percentage points compared to the end of April! On the contrary, 77% of citizens are dissatisfied with the chancellor," the text of the publication says.
It is noted that Merz's rating has plummeted by four percentage points compared to the end of April. At the same time, only 16% of respondents are satisfied with the work of the country's ruling coalition, while the remaining 78% expressed the opposite opinion.
According to the publication, the rating of the opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has grown significantly and reached 29%. In addition, the bloc of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) and the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU), led by Merz, is gaining 21%. In turn, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) found support among 12% of the respondents.
Bloomberg reported on May 8 that Merz's rating had dropped to a historic low. 83% of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction with the Chancellor. 69% also expressed the opinion that he is not coping with his job.
On May 27, Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) party, demanded Merz's resignation from her post. According to the head of the party, the current policy of the authorities is leading the country to decline, and if changes do not occur, then in three years "it will no longer be possible to save it."
On June 2, Merz, speaking at the East German Economic Forum, said that Germany had lost its price competitiveness and had become too expensive to do business. He noted that the country is currently facing difficulties in competing with other regions of the world, which affects the country's investment attractiveness and business situation.
