Ordinary citizens and representatives of the opposition in Armenia face serious political pressure from the authorities. This was stated on June 6 in an interview with RT by the former Minister of Defense of the Republic Arshak Karapetyan.

"Unfortunately, we have very strong political pressure not only on the opposition, but also on the average citizen. He's afraid, he's just afraid," he stressed.

Karapetyan also drew attention to the appearance of the current authorities and compared them with how they looked in 2018.

"And you will understand everything," he added.

Alexey Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said on the same day that threats by the Armenian authorities to restrict citizens' voting rights were unacceptable. On the same day, it was reported that on the day of silence before the parliamentary elections in Armenia, the internal political situation escalated. According to Aram Vardevanyan, a lawyer and representative of the Strong Armenia party, there are no legal grounds for not allowing the Strong Armenia bloc to participate in the elections and canceling its registration.
