Russian goalkeeper of the Tampa club Andrey Vasilevsky won the Vezina Trophy as the best goalkeeper of the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season. This was reported on the league's website on June 6.

"Professionally, this is one of your main goals, but it's all about the team. It takes a lot to have a good defensive team," Vasilevsky said.

Vasilevsky scored 114 points in the voting, while his compatriot Ilya Sorokin took second place with 51 points. American goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman took the third position with 46 points.

The Russian received 17 first places in the voting and became the leader of the 2025/26 regular season in terms of the number of wins - 39 wins in 58 matches. In addition, Vasilevsky was among the best in terms of reliability (2.31) and percentage of deflected shots (91.2%).

League Deputy Commissioner Bill Daley said on May 17 that Russian hockey players would still not be able to bring the Stanley Cup home if they won the NHL playoffs. According to him, the organization's policy in this regard has not changed in 2026. The decision not to allow players from the Russian Federation to deliver the main league trophy to the country was made by the NHL leadership back in 2022.
