The Russian Security Council called Armenia's threats to restrict voting rights unacceptable.

Threats by the Armenian authorities to restrict citizens' voting rights are unacceptable. This was announced on June 6 by Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexei Shevtsov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

When asked how Russia views the Armenian authorities' threats to send Armenians who came to vote in the parliamentary elections to military training camps, Shevtsov said such threats are unacceptable.

"Any restriction of the electoral rights of its citizens is unacceptable. By the way, this does not correspond to the European values and standards that Armenia itself aspires to. Therefore, such threatening warnings, of course, do not add anything good — neither authority nor democracy," TASS quoted him as saying.
